Mohammed Ali Othman School is a well established school which has been running for over thirty years. At present it has around a thousand students from the Foundation Stage through to Year 12.

Now is an exciting time for us as we are in the process of introducing the English and Welsh National Curriculum throughout the school.

We are also introducing assessment monitoring and evaluation procedures modelled on those used in schools in England.

The first phase has now been completed. A school structure based on the English system is in place, schemes of work are now being used and a training programme for staff is well under way.

The next phase is to ensure all students are prepared for external exams such as Checkpoint/S.A.T.s at Keystage-4, I.G.C.S.E. at Keystage-5 and A.S. For this academic year we have over 180 students entered and 20 entered for the A.S. examinations. (In 2005 only eight students were entered for I.G.C.S.E./G.C.S.E).

These figures will increase as the National Curriculum becomes more firmly embedded. It is also important to point out that the vast majority of students that attend the school are from the local community. Arabic is their mother tongue.

This year around 45 students are going

for ICT-IGCSE exam.

We have qualified I.C.T teachers who are delivering ENC I.C.T Curriculum (Schemes of work). It is a team of three dedicated teachers and two technicians with 1 Head of the Department.

It is worth mentioning that our ICT dept. has made a significant progress in recent years. Now, it is not only a popular subject in the school, but our I.C.T dept. is also providing assistance & support to other departments, in terms of resources, equipment and training.

We are also the first school in Yemen to offer e-Learning facilities to students and Staff.

We have three state-of-the-art I.C.T Labs with branded HP LCD monitors and core dua2 processors (CPU), Networking equipped with Wireless ADSL-1MB high-speed-Internet connection. We also have projectors, remote control screens and air-conditioning in all I.C.T labs.
